WE ARE CURRENTLY HIRING:

Position Description
To create consistent, high-quality, technically excellent confections from start to finish, from devising a recipe, through to making the product, and finally packaging, displaying and selling. More specifically, a Chocolatier will leverage essential production skills of the trade, including tempering, dipping, molding, decorating and sculpting, producing individual chocolates, including truffles and those filled with fruit, caramel, coffee or liqueur, chocolate bars and chocolate confectionery.

Essential Functions

  • Excite Customer Chocolate Passion and Drive Sales
  • Weigh, prepare food labels and pack all produced products
  • Daily production of artisan chocolates and confections
  • Maintain exemplary technique.
  • Maintain high productivity.
  • Work with care, to limit mistakes and product loss.
  • Maintain positive energy within the fellow staff.
  • Receive and put away deliveries
  • Quality assurance
  • Host chocolate school and chocolate creations classes

Food Handling & Hygiene

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized kitchen, uniform, personal cleanliness and grooming.
  • Adhere to all food, health, and safety guidelines and laws.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of all chocolate processing equipment.

Quality Control

  • Quality control of the store’s chocolate products to maintain quality assurance standards and brand expectations.
  • Ensure created products are fully-stocked, merchandised, consistent, and pass quality control

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of handling and storing food
  • Product knowledge and superior presentation skills, including public speaking
  • Outgoing personality with exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a broad spectrum of guests
  • Experience in food handling and presentation desired

Chocolatier Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum
Possess Personnel Skills
The Master Chocolatier must possess personnel skills to maintain an effective workforce. They assist in the recruitment and selection process, ensuring that the newly hired have potential in the growth and success of the company. He/She is part of the training process to guarantee that the staff achieves its goals.

  • Associate degree or proven related experience desired, culinary degree preferred.
  • 3+ years combination of education and/or experience in pastry and/or confection.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Must work well in a non-structured environment with dynamic requirements and priorities
  • Positive and friendly attitude, with demonstrated willingness to work with a team
  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Be a motivated self-starter and to learn quickly and apply new knowledge effectively
  • You will be required to dive into a lot of unfamiliar areas, so it is critical that you can take feedback easily and work collaboratively.
  • Possess good problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Embrace change, be effective in the face of ambiguity, and modify behavior when appropriate to achieve organizational objectives.
  • The ability to assess risk and willingness to take calculated risks to achieve goals
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools such as Word, Excel and Outlook is necessary

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to taste or smell. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
